The 2016 Suzuki DR-Z400SM: The Street-Legal Dirt Bike with City Style

Suzuki recently unveiled their offerings for the year 2016, and the lineup is surely something to write home about. Everything from sleek, powerful bikes to well-loved, old-school styles, Suzuki had something to offer to everyone. And now, Suzuki brings us a motorcycle that could surely be a hit for both dirt bikers and street riders: The 2016 Suzuki DR-Z400SM.

If the gold-anodized rims don’t catch your attention, perhaps the rugged-yet-sleek design will. The beloved “SuperMoto” maintains its dirt-bike roots while incorporating more modern and stylish city traits such as the aforementioned gold rims, and a narrow silhouette. Suzuki makes this model available in Solid Special White, which definitely puts to mind the dirt-bike aesthetic; and Solid Black Electrical, featuring gold trims and accents – decidedly more of a city-slicker type thing. Combining both dirt-bike and city bike features in design alone, Suzuki has given riders a notable bike that’s worth checking out.

But what are looks without performance? The Suzuki DR-Z400SM delivers just as well in, giving you both comfort and control no matter which terrain you find yourself in. Its lightweight 398cc, 4-stroke engine delivers power like no other, and its SCEM-plated cylinder not only is lighter than its iron counterparts, it also gives you a much better heat transfer, allowing for a safer and more comfortable ride. Add to that the thermostatically-controlled cooling fan in the left radiator, and you can ride this bike for as long as you want, and as hard as you can muster.

A touch of a button is all it takes to start on your Suzuki journey, with this bike’s push button starter. It’s quite a quiet ride too, with its O-ring type drive chain that produces minimal sounds as you breeze across the city or the dirt track. Front-disc brakes provide ample braking power, and the fully adjustable rear shock absorber gives you all the rear-wheel control you need. The aluminum sub-frame is very light and durable, and the chrome-moly main frame maintains the famed SuperMoto riding features. Lighter, more efficient materials means speedier adventures and greater maneuverability.

All in all, the 2016 Suzuki DR-Z400SM brings the best of both worlds in one admirable bike: A street-legal dirt bike with city-slicker features, it’s a great bike for those wanting to get more bang for their motorcycle bucks.
