Motorcycles are not a particularly cheap passion to have – apart from the rather high entry price, constant maintenance and spare parts can also cost quite a sum, along with riding equipment and all the other necessities. Although we’ve reviewed a lot of expensive bikes in the past, the time has come to make a list of the most expensive ones available on the market. Check our list of the 7 most expensive motorcycles below:
Boasting a price tag of $150,000, this is the world’s first ever production motorcycle. It can be a little difficult to obtain nowadays, due to the fact that there are very few models still left, and all are kept in museums or private collections. There are 2 models which can be viewed in the USA, in the Henry Ford museum in Detroit, Michigan and in the Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama.
Costing $300,000, The Ecosse model is nothing short of spectacular. It looks great, along with providing strength of 225 horsepower from its aluminum engine, and it won a “Bike of the Year” prize. The power comes from a true 2,4l power plant of an engine, which also features a hydraulic clutch combined with an exposed belt drive made of carbon.
Currently costing $400,000, this bike was produced in the United Kingdom and is quite unique. It has a two-cylinder 250cc engine, comes in black, vintage look and is a true British classic. At the time of its production, between 1948 and 1952, it was the fastest motorcycle in the world. It features a 998cc V-Twin engine and can still be bought and manufactured upon order.
Starting the top 3 is a $500,000 gold, custom-made chopper. The sheer beauty of its finishing makes it more of show bike than a road one, but it can still provide decent performance if you decide to test it outdoors.
A $750,000 bike comes second, but what a beauty it is! This bike was made in World War II and can be bought for the hefty price tag from the National Motorcycle Museum. It even comes with a World Championship win in the 500cc category, but sadly the series did not know a lot of future models. After the death of the AMC founder in 1954, the brand quickly lost its visionary powers and was forgotten fairly quickly.
Top of the list is a Harley model that simply costs $1,000,000. It was specifically designed to be the most expensive, exclusive, fast and powerful Harley Model, and it is a complete joy to watch and use. The kind of joy that costs 1 million dollars, of course. The artistic work on the bike was ensured by Jack Armstrong, who performed quite some exquisite work on it. This bike was the first and only collaboration Jack had with Harley-Davidson, and according to his statements, it will be the only one. Considering the fact that the bike is a Harley and that Armstrong’s paintings sell upward of $300,000 each, the model is quite unique and fully deserves the #1 spot on our list.
