2017 Suzuki SV650S Review

Who would have imagined that Suzuki SV650 would one day attract a multitude of enthusiastic fans when it was incepted in 1999? It’s almost 15 years now, and the SV is enjoying a close cut-like status. The favorite among club racers is the SV650 powered by grunt V-Twin; it’s friendly enough for beginner riders to earn stripes but aggressive and powerful enough to amuse experienced riders as well.

With that already said, SV650 enthusiasts will be ecstatic to hear of the new model 2017 Suzuki SV650S. It will be trendy, more powerful and lighter. The 645cc V-Twin has been revamped with additional 60 new parts. Suzuki employed the Finite Element Method in designing the new piston in order to obtain peak rigidity without adding extra weight.

The new piston skirts coated with resin aim to reduce friction. Each cylinder has twin spark plugs meant for ignition, 10-hole fuel injectors, and fuel injection system having Suzuki-bound Dual Throttle Valve.

The new two-in-one is lighter and uses a catalyzer to reduce emissions. All these new packages are meant to give it more low-midrange torque and more horsepower.

2017 Suzuki SV650S chassis have been revamped as well with an additional of 70 components into it. The trellis-style frame and lightweight steel helped this new model to shed 15 pounds from its predecessor SFV650. It has a narrower fuel tank than the 2015 SFV650 but the amount of gas retained is the same. The slimmer design will help riders get their feet planted well on the ground.

The front brakes have a 290mm dual floating disk coupled with two-piston Tokiko calipers while the rear brakes have 240mm disc. The 2017 Suzuki SV650S also has a new Nissin ABS that is more compact and lighter than the prior unit.

The latest SV650 is fitted with multifunctional LCD that is loaded with features including a digital speedometer, an odometer, gear position indicator, tachometer, trip meter, water temperature and fuel gauge, driving gauge and average fuel consumption.

The 2017 Suzuki SV650S is expected to hit dealerships in the early summer, but the price is still not well known.
