The Triumph Company has been in operation for over 80 years. Over the years, they have been involved in the manufacture of high-quality motorcycles that have proven to be trendy in various generations. For instance, their bikes were an identifier of a variety of counter-cultural movements in the US and the UK in the 1960’s. The British Rockers were among the notable movements during this period.
Nonetheless, the company’s fortunes slowed down in the late 1970s and extended up to the early ’90s. After the company’s rebirth, they have strived relentlessly to recreate their iconic legacy with the redesign of some of their legendary motorcycles. Their 2016 Triumph Thruxton 1200 is an ideal example of an upgraded redesign from their earlier versions.
The motorcycle has an eight-valve 1200cc high power parallel twin engine. The engine is available in a six-speed version featuring a lighter crank an air-box that delivers low inertia with high performance. It is installed with a ride-by-wire fuel-injection technology that enables it to produce 120Nm of torque at 4950 rpm. The torque is 62% more than that produced by its predecessors.
The engine has a liquid-cooling system increasing its efficiency. This enhanced efficiency reduces emissions while simultaneously reducing the amount of fuel the motorcycle consumes when compared to its predecessors.
The 2016 Triumph Thruxton 1200 combines a masculine appearance with a high power engine to accentuate its stunning appearance. It has up-swept reverse megaphone exhaust design. This exhaust design gives it a trendy appearance and enables it to deliver a thrilling sound of a raw and vibrant note matching its iconic design. It has a slim sculpted fuel tank with a unique flip-up ‘Monza’ cap.
The bike is installed with a bullet seat that accentuates its stylish appearance. Additionally, its wheel rims, bar end mirrors, and swinging arm are made of lightweight aluminum enabling the bike to cruise at top speeds easily. The lightweight also allows the rider to maintain control of their bike when traveling at any speed. The polished tank strap and top yoke give the bike an appealing luxurious appearance.
The bike is installed with an anti-lock braking system that enhances control for the rider while on the road. Its ride-by-wire electronic system increases throttle control and responsiveness enabling the rider to handle the bike efficiently while at top speeds. Additionally, the bike has three selectable rider mode options namely sport, rain, and road. These options enable the rider to have greater control enhancing their safety.
The ride-by-wire system incorporates a traction control system that is operated using a switch increasing the motorcycle’s torque delivery. The motorcycle is also installed with a slip-assist clutch control system enabling the rider to ride for longer periods comfortably. Technological advancements made on the bike allow it to be controlled efficiently using a fingertip control scroll button. This button has access to all the key features that are digitally displayed for easier interpretation of information.
The speedometer and rev counter are stylishly designed with 3D dial faces that incorporate digital menu systems. The essential digital features include gear position indicator, average and current MPG, odometer, and ABS features. Moreover, rider mode setting, fuel level, traction controls, and a service indicator are present on the digital display.
The bike has durable daytime running lights giving it a unique and efficient lighting system. On the rear, LED lights are installed giving it a modern appearance. The 2016 Triumph Thruxton 1200 has an immobilizer engine technology that integrates the new ignition key with a transponder. The transponder is connected to a receiver the ignition system preventing the motor from starting if the correct key is not used.
The bike is fitted with adjustable suspensions that improve its agility. Also, the 17-inch front wheel improves the stability and handling of the motorcycle by the rider while moving at top speeds. The bike is unique since it also has a USB socket under the seat enabling riders to charge their accessories while on the move.
