Review – 2016 Honda Goldwing – The Sleek and Efficient

The 2016 Honda Goldwing was designed to revolutionize the concept of touring. Its engine provides power and performance with excellent smoothness. Moreover, its chassis is designed for long journey cruising comforts. Its integrated luggage carriers will enable the rider to carry their belongings with ease. It has a full coverage windshield and has enough room for the rider to take a passenger with them.

The bike has a trip planner that enables riders to plan their routes from their computers and then upload them into the motorcycle’s perfect navi system. The navi system is beneficial to riders because it enables riders to notice lane guidance and nearby junctions view features. Additionally, the system has a GPS receiver allowing the rider to stay on course as it captures satellite signals faster.

Engine

The 2016 Honda Goldwing has an 1832 cc liquid-cooled engine that has six cylinders that are horizontally opposed. The compression ratio delivered by the engine is 9.8:1 with a computer controlled digital ignition with three-dimensional mapping. It has two valves per cylinder that have an SOHC arrangement.

Moreover, it has a 74mm bore and a 71 mm stroke that are accentuated by a programmed fuel injection induction. Its drive train has a five-speed transmission that includes an overdrive and an electric reverse. Its final drive is a shaft enabling for a smooth ride.

Chassis, Suspensions, and Brakes

The front suspension on this cruise bike comprises of a 45 mm cartridge fork that has an anti-dive system and a 4.8 inches long travel. The rear suspension has a single-side swingarm that has a Pro-link single shock. Additionally, it has a computer-controlled spring pre-load adjustment that comprises of two memory presets a 4.1 inches long travel.

The front brakes are made up of dual full-floating 296 mm discs. These discs are adjoined to CBS three-piston calipers. On the rear, the braking system comprises of a single ventilated disc that is 316 mm and is adjoined to a CBS three-piston caliper. The ideal front tires for this bike are 130/70R-18 while the rear tires measure 180/60R-16.

Dimensions

The 2016 Honda Goldwing has a 29.15 degrees rake with a trail of 109mm. The seat height is set at 29.1 inches high that is an ideal height for the rider to travel all day. The wheelbase is 66.5 inches with a curb weight that ranges between 904-933 pounds depending on the option packages selected by the rider. The packages are well designed to enhance an enjoyable customized riding experience.

This weight includes all the standard equipment that is installed on the bike plus the required fluids and a full fuel tank. The 2016 Honda Goldwing has a fuel capacity of 6.6 gallons, and its fuel consumption rate stands at 35 MPG. The bike comes with a three-year warranty, and its price is expected to range between $23,999- $30,599.

Innovations

The bike has an adjustable windscreen with an outstanding storage capacity. It has a tire pressure monitoring system and combined anti-lock braking system. Also, it has iPod connectivity and an audio system with surround system accentuating the infotainment system for the rider. Its satellite-linked navigation system enables riders to stay on course at all times.
